Jean-Claude Chanudet, also known as Le Chat, is one of the first generation of "natural" wine producers in Beaujolais. In 1989, he took over his father-in-law's vines with good old-fashioned common sense. An iconic winemaker, he tends to 4 hectares of old vines in Morgon with a free and precise winemaking sensibility, long macerations, and aging in old barrels. The wines are remarkably refined, with a certain richness yet always enjoyable, and have excellent aging potential. His daughter Jeanne, a trained veterinarian, is destined to take over this beautiful estate.
