GRANDE CHARTREUSE Yellow 43% 35cl
The famous Chartreuse Fathers' liqueurs need no introduction!
Yellow Chartreuse:
Created in 1840, this yellow liqueur is inspired by the recipe for the Elixir Végétal. It became so popular that Father Garnier, the procurator and liqueur manager at the time, later decided to officially name it Yellow Chartreuse and registered the "Chartreuse" brand in 1852. It is a liqueur with an alcohol content of 43°, still produced and manufactured today by the Chartreuse Fathers in their distillery in Aiguenoire in Entre-Deux-Guiers (Isère - France).
Composition: alcohol, sugar, water, plant substances (130 plants, flowers, bark, roots and spices).
Alcohol content: 43% vol.
Production: Yellow Chartreuse is characterized by its sweetness, spicy aromas and natural color derived from the 130 plants, flowers, bark, roots and spices.
Its production is significantly different from Green Chartreuse and requires several weeks of work in various stages:
- Macerations prepared by the monks in the plant room at the Grande Chartreuse monastery.
- Distillation to obtain the aroma.
- Different types of maceration that extract the active principles of the plants and give the liqueur its natural color.
It then ages for a long time in oak casks before being bottled, and continues to evolve and develop its complexity in the bottle.
