GRANDE CHARTREUSE Green 55° 70cl
The famous liqueurs of the Carthusian Fathers need no introduction!
Green Chartreuse:
Created in 1840, the "Liqueur de Santé" was the first liqueur made from the original recipe of the Grande Chartreuse Herbal Elixir. It was so popular that Father Garnier, the procurator and head of liqueurs at the time, later decided to officially name it Green Chartreuse, and registered the "Chartreuse" trademark in 1852. It is still made and produced today by the Carthusian Fathers in their Aiguenoire distillery in Entre-Deux-Guiers (Isère - France).
Composition: alcohol, sugar, water, plant substances (130 plants, flowers, barks, roots and spices).
Alcohol content: 55% vol.
Production:Green Chartreuse derives its unique character from its natural colour, its potency and its aromatic complexity, which come from 130 plants, flowers, barks, roots and spices.
Its production requires several weeks of work and involves several stages:
- Macerations prepared by the monks in the herb room at the Grande Chartreuse monastery.
- Distillation to obtain the aroma.
- Different types of cold maceration/infusion to extract the active principles of the plants. Distillation to obtain the aroma.
- Aging in oak casks before bottling.
