Grape varieties: 85% Meunier, 15% Chardonnay; predominantly 2015 harvest with 51% reserve wines from 2013 and 2014.
Terroir: Clay-loam, clay-limestone and loam-limestone soils, with a touch of sand. A blend of grapes from 7 neighbouring villages, most with south-facing exposure.
Tasting notes: A fruity, powerful and generous Champagne, expressing with intensity the authenticity of our savoir-faire and the true character of our terroir.
A family-run estate for over five generations, Champagne Gratiot & Cie has grown from just 1.5 hectares in 1863 to 18 hectares today, spread across seven villages in the Marne Valley. Pinot Meunier is the beating heart of the domaine, complemented by Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and a touch of Petit Meslier. Each parcel, with its mix of clay-limestone and sandy soils, contributes character and nuance to their wines.
Now led by Rémy Gratiot, the estate combines heritage with modern vision. Sustainable vineyard practices underpin their philosophy of expressing terroir with freshness and precision. Their cuvées are grouped under the poetic “Almanach” collection, each volume a chapter in the story of the family’s savoir-faire. These Champagnes are generous, fruit-driven and authentic reflections of the Marne Valley.
