GROSPERRIN Muté Must with Cognac MMC1 5 years 17% 70cl
MMC Cuvée 1 - A very fresh and fruity wine, different from the first bottlings. This MMC comes from one of the most highly regarded wine-producing estates, which agreed to provide them with this batch, which is actually significantly older than the previous MMC1.
Tasting notes: Very soft, slightly sweet, nice acidity, balanced. Density and depth, first rancio notes.
MMCs (Moûts Mutés au Cognac - Musts Muted with Cognac) are made from white or red grape musts and Cognac exclusively from the same property. Charentais winemakers often keep a few barrels of these wines and let them age for several decades - these are the wines Guilhem Grosperrin seeks!
The story of the Grosperrin family begins in 1981 when Jean Grosperrin started a traveling distillation workshop. With three stills, he moved from one distillation to another to distill fruits during the winter period. It was in 1991 that he became a country broker for Cognac and went to the most remote places of the appellation. He looked for small farms and the rarest lots of cognac. Frustrated to see exceptional lots go into giant blends, Jean bought a few barrels of old cognacs and bottled them himself. Each bottle tells its story and its age is specified. In 1999, the history of Cognacs Grosperrin began. Since 2004, Guilhem Grosperrin has taken over from his father and continues to enrich the cellars with exceptional cognacs.
