Grape variety: Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc
Terroir: Upper slopes of granitic hillsides.
Tasting notes: What stands out in this wine is first its silky mouthfeel, where fine-grained tannins dust a juice that is deep and delicate. A flurry of red and black fruits dances through, blueberry, wild blackberry, and forest raspberry. The finish is fresh, with a vibrant minerality.
🍷 Serving temperature: 16°C. A light decanting is recommended to allow the wine to open up.
Domaine Les Bertrand is now in its third generation, with Yann joining in 2012! It all began with Louis Bertrand in the 1950s, who settled in the commune of Chanteray before later acquiring Château de Grand Pré in Fleurie. The next generations carried the torch: in the 1990s, his son Guy bought adjoining plots around the Château, already moving away from pesticides and toward a more sustainable approach. Around the same time, they began fermenting without added yeast and without SO2.
Yann naturally developed a passion for natural wines and biodynamics, soil work with compost, understanding microbiology, caring for native flora, and using biodynamic treatments. Vinifications are completely natural. What he seeks to share is a wine that is alive and vibrant.
