MAISON JAUNE Savennières Aquila AM 2022 75cl White
Grape Variety: Chenin 100%
The "Aquila" plot has been cultivated by Jean Claude since 2013. It was planted in 2003. It is located in an area composed of green-grey, sometimes purple, schist. Crystalline schists are found there, including slaty schists, sericitic schists with white mica, and talc schists composed of talc and steatite. Finally, micaschists are complemented by quartz, which enriches these varieties of metamorphic rocks.
Tasting Notes: Desired mineral nose, light smoke, more acidic on the palate with a lovely salivating energy, notes of passion fruit, fresh exotic fruits, and citrus zest explode on the finish. A vintage full of freshness, harvested without seeking total over-ripeness, happily expressing the full minerality of the soils!
Aged for 12 months in used barrels (2 to 3 wines)
🍷 Serving temperature 12°
Intuitively, Jean Claude Taddei's approach is inspired by Masanobu Fukuoka's "non-action." This does not mean doing nothing, but, as Fukuoka says, asking oneself whether it is necessary to do this or that. In other words, rather than doing, it's about asking what can be left undone.
From the outset, there is a rejection of a maximum of inputs, especially those from the chemical industry. Consequently, sulfur and copper (while awaiting something better for the latter) are the only products used. Copper is generally used at a third of the recommendations and depending on the year's pressure.
Soil preservation. The vigor of the vines and a natural balance mean that the soil is never touched—no plowing, no scratching, no weedkillers, no fertilizers. Only mowing is carried out.
There is the idea of measured non-interventionism, or rather, allowing natural balances to form as much as possible. Not correcting all imperfections, to leave some room for nature. Human intervention in nature creates chaos. Minimizing interventions limits negative impacts.
