NIEPOORT Porto Tawny 10 Years Old 20% 75cl
Grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Roriz
Tasting Notes: The prestigious publication Wine Spectator highlighted "the amazing aromas of orange and lemon peel, with notes of coffee, caramel and honey. A full-bodied and luscious wine, with plenty of sweet fruit and a long, subtle finish that lasts and lasts."
Tawnies with an age indication such as 10-year-olds are the result of blending different wines aged for an average of 10 years. The prolonged aging in small oak casks gives it its characteristic blonde color. Tawny with an age indication is essentially distinguished by the complexity of its aromas, its freshness, its persistent bouquet and its refinement. It has a deep and intense golden color, with orange hints, and reveals aromas of candied fruits and dried apricots perfectly combined with sweet notes of dried fruits (walnuts) on the finish. An old Tawny is the ideal choice to accompany cheeses and desserts made with eggs and chocolate. It can also be enjoyed as an aperitif, served slightly chilled and simply accompanied by dried fruits.
Niepoort was founded in 1842 by Franciscus Marius van der Niepoort. For over 150 years, the company has been dedicated to Port wine production, 150 years of accumulated knowledge passed down from generation to generation. The Niepoort cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia are a magical place where Port wines age at a different pace, where good traditions endure, where barrels, bottles, and demijohns are meticulously monitored one by one so that the final result is always a Port with a capital P.
