Tasting notes: The nose highlights the floral and spicy aromatics of Gewürztraminer. The attack is lively and fresh, with a hint of citrus, leading to a rounder, softer finish.
🍷 Serve at 10–12°C
In Champlitte, Haute-Saône, northeast of Dijon in Burgundy, Pascal Henriot has been making organic wines with minimal sulphites since 1985. Today, it’s Orane who oversees the 7 hectares of vines, planted at 300 metres altitude across three distinct parcels: Monts Cairs, Folains, and Vergers Carel.
On coral-origin clay-limestone soils, the winery grows Gamay, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay, as well as Alsatian varieties such as Gewürztraminer, Muscat à petits grains, Pinot Gris, and Auxerrois. In a spirit of down-to-earth farming, the vines grow alongside rye and buckwheat, in a kind of benevolent, mutual support.
The wines are unpretentious, crafted with the intention of offering a tasting experience that is honest and true; playful or profound, depending on the terroir.
