14: Palais Curieux Novembre 2022

It's distillation month! A chance to tell you about a friend and excellent professional in the world of Armagnac: Vincent Laterrade !

With his experience as a former sommelier and a passionate lover of his native Gers region, he has dedicated himself for the past ten years to independently selecting, aging, and bottling fine Armagnacs. All his Armagnacs are "cask strength," meaning they are at their natural proof without added distilled water, caramelization, or filtration; a pure delight!

Thus, throughout the year, he travels the region's cellars in search of gems, old batches never bottled, sometimes never discovered, slumbering for decades in cellars from another era. His selection of Armagnacs boasts incredible accuracy and complexity, with precise tasting notes. Each year, superb batches emerge, akin to the greatest Scottish bottlers. The batches are never reduced, and you won't pay for the packaging, which is very simple yet features elegant bottles!!
_______________

With this superb Indian summer, terraces and tapas are still on the menu! A sunny Catalan tour on the Banyuls side with Domaine Vial Magnères ! This small family estate has been run for 4 generations, with small plots spread across the coastal facade of Banyuls and Port-Vendres. The vines are cultivated on traditional schist terraces and entirely by hand.

Along the Loire, first up is a new arrival, Domaine Denis Leroy. Located on the right bank of the Cher, it can claim to be one of Touraine's oldest organic estates, certified in 1981! With conviction and simplicity, this family discreetly continues its work to offer
appealing, delicious, and very accessible wines, often single-varietal! Then, we have again received the Sancerres from Domaine Thomas & Fils, which you liked so much. White and red, the cuvées are fresh, precise, mineral, and very reasonably priced!
________________

Two Southern returnees with lovely natural cuvées! In the southwest, it's Sébastien Fézas from Domaine Jean Daugé in the Gers. He works only about 2 hectares of the family estate to produce his cuvées—dry white, red, and orange—all of which exhibit the freshness and tension characteristic of Southwest wines! Then, more on the Languedoc side, it's Domaine Dom&Terre in Corbières! A lover of this region, Dominique created Dom & Terre in Lagrasse in 2017. Everything is worked as naturally as possible, reflecting his long-held convictions!
________________

And finally, a small arrival for Bordeaux enthusiasts! This is a small family estate located in the Fronsadais, Château Grand Renouil. The vineyard was founded by great-grandfather Victor in 1905! (Born into a family of Corrèze farmers, he dreamt of making his passion for wine a reality!). Today, 9 hectares are cultivated by his great-grandchildren and are now worked using organic farming practices (without certification). The wines are dark, with black fruit notes and velvety tannins! These are certainly autumn wines, not unlike beautiful Pomerols!

Le Palais Curieux this November: This month, a dry, assertive mineral white from Gers, an original: an orange wine (a macerated white wine) made locally in the Jurançon region by Jean-Pierre Proharam! Made from the unique Petit Manseng grape, it is definitely a gastronomic wine for pairings with cheeses or tagines!

Then a selection of 4 reds from various regions; Bordeaux Right Bank, Loire and Corbières! Enjoy your tasting!!
