The Goienetxea wine estate has been established in Baigorri since 1987 and has been operating organically since 2002. The first vines were planted by Pantxo Indart – the father who truly sculpted the mountain on the magnificent red sandstone soil (for the Tannat and Cabernet Franc vines) and ophites (for Gros and Petit Manseng). Exceptional terroirs for producing exceptional wines, nothing less! However, from the very beginning, they never vinified their own wines, opting instead to sell their grapes to the producers of the Irouléguy appellation, be it the local Cooperative or the Arrextea estate.
Today, Bixente Indart, his son, who, after honing his craft with other renowned winemakers in mainland France and Corsica (for example, with Arena), has created his own winery and vinified his first vintage in 2021.
The estate continues to work its 5 hectares in the same way, with the utmost respect for the terroir and its fruits. Indigenous yeasts ensure natural fermentations, and sulfites are added in minimal quantities. The result? Wines full of emotion, born from the ophite and red sandstone terroirs, offering complex blends that are so full of energy!
