Grape Varieties: 70% Chardonnay, 20% Gamay, 10% Pinot Gris – Zero Dosage
Terroir: Predominantly clay soils with quartzite and schist at the base of the hillside
Tasting Notes: On one side, fresh almond and floral notes reminiscent of Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs, and on the other, a subtle yet surprising hint of red fruits. A very fine mousse enhances its elegance; delicious!
🍷 Serving Temperature: 10-11°C
Based in Saint Géréon, on the right bank of the Loire, upstream from Muscadet. Frédéric Monnier, a former engineer, has settled on some incredible, vibrant hillsides… surrounded by menhirs carved from quartz (one of which is 3.80 m tall… originally there were probably 48 arranged in several rows!) dating back to the Neolithic period! The vineyard, facing due south with its eastern side on a magnificent terroir composed of schist, quartz, and quartzite, is well integrated in this telluric landscape. All the wines are marked remarkable minerality—the hallmark of the finest terroirs, reminiscent of the magnificent expressions found in the hillsides of Savennières!
